5 Easy School Lunches Kids Love
Making school lunches for your kids can be a hassle. You want to make sure they’re getting something healthy, but you also don’t have time to spend hours in the kitchen every day. I am definitely not one of those “Pinterest” so having some quick and easy ideas that I can throw together is a must for me. That’s why I’ve put together this list of 5 school lunches kids love.
1. Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
This time-honored staple for kids’ lunches is fast, doesn’t need much effort, and is guaranteed to win them over every time. Be careful to check with your child’s school to find out what their stance is on peanuts. These days, the vast majority of schools steer clear of the allergy, but there are many options of nut-free peanut butters available for consumers to select from.
2. Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Another lunchtime staple that is simple to prepare and is guaranteed to be a favorite with children is the grilled cheese sandwich. You may even be creative by including some more components, such as ham, bacon, or tomato in the dish. Out of butter? Did you know you can “butter” the bread with mayonnaise and grill in the pan as per usual. Turns out crisp and yummy.
3. Macaroni and Cheese
Kids will almost always choose macaroni and cheese over other lunch options, and since it’s simple to prepare in advance, you can simply reheat it when it’s time for lunch. Just make sure you heat up their thermos properly beforehand so their noodles stay nice and warm until it’s time to eat.
4. Soup and Sandwich
One of the best options for a lunch that is both speedy and simple is soup and a sandwich. Make sure the soup is not too hot for your kid to handle before serving it to them. Sometimes those stainless steel thermos’ can hold onto the heat.
5. Pizza
Pizza is guaranteed to be a hit with children, and since it is simple to prepare in advance, all you will need to do to serve it for lunch is heat it up. Or, eat it cold. I mean who doesn’t like cold pizza?
As I’ve mentioned before, when it comes to packing lunches, I’m not exactly known for my originality. Who actually has time for anything like that? To fill out the meal, I might add some carrot sticks, grapes or other fruit, a couple of cookies, or something similar. However, if I begin with a few ideas that are tried and true, such as the ones presented above, I have a good foundation. If I’m in the mood for something particularly creative, I might spend a little extra time to cut the sandwiches into triangles and remove the crusts from the bread.
That sums it up nicely, doesn’t it? Here are five options for lunches that are simple, quick, and easy to prepare and that your children will like eating at school. In addition to that, each of these school lunches is really easy on the wallet. Prepare any one of these tasty lunches, and you’ll not only save time but also money in the process.
