How to Avoid Holiday Burnout: 5 Simple Selfcare Tips

The holidays are a busy time of year for everyone, but they can be especially hectic for moms. With all the shopping, cooking, decorating, and hosting that needs to be done, it can be easy to forget about taking care of yourself too. But if you don’t make time for yourself during the holiday season, you could end up burned out and exhausted. To prevent this from happening, here are 5 easy ways to find time for self-care during and avoid holiday burnout the holidays.

1. Set Aside 10 Minutes

When was the last time you had 10 minutes to yourself? During the hustle and bustle of the holidays it may seem impossible to set aside even just a few minutes for yourself. But try your best – make an effort to carve out just 10 minutes in your day to relax and regroup. Put on some soothing music or take a hot bath with essential oils. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, do something totally new like yoga or meditation!

2. Take a Walk Around the Block

Sometimes getting outside can help clear your head and give you some much needed space away from all the holiday chaos inside your house. So bundle up if it’s cold outside and go for a walk around your block – it only takes 15 minutes tops! And if you really need some alone time, put on your headphones and listen to some music as you go!

3. Have Breakfast in Bed

Just because it’s technically not Sunday doesn’t mean that you can’t have breakfast in bed! Make your favorite meal (or order take-out) then take it upstairs with a good book or magazine and enjoy your breakfast in peace and quiet before everyone else wakes up!

4. Write Down Your Feelings

If talking isn’t really your thing but thoughts keep running through your head at night when trying to sleep then maybe writing down those feelings is right up your alley! Grab a notebook or journal and jot down whatever thoughts come into mind – don’t worry if they don’t make sense – just let them flow freely onto paper until there are none left left in your head (this usually works best late at night). A blank book works great or if you don’t know where to start there are a ton of journaling guides out there. I list a few favorites down below.

5. Get Some Exercise

Exercising is one of the best ways to relieve stress so why not do some stretches or yoga poses while watching TV? It only takes about 20 minutes per day so why not multitask by doing something good for both body AND mind? Plus exercise releases endorphins which helps boost energy levels so get moving today!

Conclusion:

Taking care of yourself during the holiday season is essential so that you don’t suffer from burnout caused by exhaustion or stress overload. Setting aside even just 10 minutes each day will help restore balance between taking care of others and taking care of yourself. So whether it’s going for a walk around the block, having breakfast in bed, writing down feelings in a journal, or exercising while watching TV – take back control over how much energy you have available this holiday season by finding time every day to rest and recharge! Hopefully, these suggestions will help you to avoid holiday burnout.
